Maya & a first-time Persian client

The studio, 3pm golden hour

Mochi, post-lion-cut bliss
Started because
Mochi needed a lion cut
and nowhere felt right.
Maya Chen opened Purrfect in 2019 after spending three years as a veterinary technician and watching cat owners return from dog-focused salons with stressed, over-handled animals. Cats aren't small dogs. They need a different pace, a quieter room, hands that know when to pause.
The studio sits between Groundwork Coffee and Skylight Books on Vermont Avenue — a sunlit corner space with a single grooming table, no barking, and an appointment-only policy that means your cat is never waiting in a kennel.
Every appointment includes a quick coat health check. If Maya notices something — a lump, a skin change, early mat formation — she'll mention it. Not as an upsell. Just as a neighbor would.
